# 2FA - Two-factor authentication for your mailbox

<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your mailbox by requiring a time-sensitive verification code in addition to your password during sign-in. This helps protect your account from unauthorized access, even in the event that your password is compromised.</span>

<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Before enabling MFA, make sure you have the following: </span>

- - <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Access to your PolarisMail account.</span>
    - <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">A mobile device.</span>
    - <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">An authenticator app, such as <span style="color: rgb(35, 111, 161);">**[Authy](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.authy.authy&hl=en)** <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">or</span> **[Google Authenticator](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en).**</span></span>

##### <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">1. Enable 2FA</span>

<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To enable 2FA for your mailbox: </span>

1. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Log in to the <span style="color: rgb(35, 111, 161);">**[User Panel.](https://cp.emailarray.com/)**</span></span>
    
    <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"></span>
2. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">From the menu, open the **MFA** tab.</span>
    
    <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"></span>
3. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Set the **Status** field to **Enabled**, then click **Save**.</span>

4. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Follow the on-screen instructions to continue the setup process. </span>
    
    <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"></span>
5. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code that appears. </span>
    
    <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"></span>
6. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Enter the 6-digit verification code generated by the app, then click **Save**.</span>

##### <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">2. Sign in with 2FA</span>

<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">After 2FA is enabled, you will be asked to enter a verification code when signing in.</span>

1. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Go to the PolarisMail login page.</span>
2. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Enter your email address and password.</span>
3. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Open your authenticator app when prompted.</span>
4. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Enter the current verification code.</span>
5. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Complete the sign-in process.</span>

##### <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">3. Disable 2FA</span>

<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To disable 2FA for your mailbox:</span>

1. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Log in to the **User Panel**.</span>
2. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Open the MFA section.</span>
3. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Set the **Status** field to **Disable**, then click **Save**.</span>
4. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Enter a valid 6-digit code from your authenticator app to confirm the change.</span>
5. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Click **Save**.</span>
